As he falls, she rises - the true message of the piece, she is WORTHY and he is not. Of course she does!īut the main action of the story is around the persecution of poor Bill, with scowling Hillary, aware of his weaknesses, supporting him against Ken Starr.
Her husband encourages her to go after Clinton for the money, turns down a $700,000 settlement and surprise - it all goes rat-shit and she winds up penniless, so she decides to get money by stripping off for Penthouse. The Paula Jones side tale is a diversion from the main action - she tells of an incident in a Little Rock motel where Bill exposes himself to her - she has anatomical proof. She is so hungry for fame, revenge and right wing bile, it oozes out of every pore. The actress playing Tripp is magnificent.
She confesses her 'love affair' to the execrable Linda Tripp, the villain, who tapes her confessions and peddles these tapes to Ken Starr, the fundamentalist federal prosecutor, so that he can drag Clinton into impeachment. She stalked and raped Bill, just as she did her teacher, which also lead to scandal. If the actress looked like the ACTUAL Monica - herself a 23 year old college graduate, who pulled the same rape stunt on one of her teachers a few years back, then the truth would stand out more starkly. Monica Lewinsky, a co-producer of this mess, casts the Beanie Feldstein, a short, fat woman-baby as herself, to no doubt gain sympathy as a victim. Instead, it achieves the opposite - Bill Clinton was a survivor of Monica Lewinsky's rape of HIM, and his subsequent persecution lead by the awful Linda Tripp and the entire GOP Paula Jones, who tried to parley her encounter with Clinton into a fortune (with the help of her husband and right wing Christian fundamentalists) and Juanita Whats Her Name, a 56 year old who tearfully recants her denials of Clinton's alleged assault in front of the cameras by a media longing for a sensational story. Impeachment tries its best to dramatise the trauma of sexual assault at the hands of Bill Clinton from the 'survivors' points of view. Book Deal? Legal Settlement? Penthouse? $Metoo!
